It always starts slow, of course. One thing at a time.  Dropping lusciously before us, making our mouth water with the absurd perfection of it.  A crisp spear of asparagus.  A plump cherry.  Fat, candy-esque blueberries.

But now.  Oh, but the now!  When it all starts coming at the same time.

The branches, soils, and vines of the Yakima Valley are heavy with the weight of their own fecundity, and it’s all coming off.

Every visit to the fruit stand reveals some new sun ripened creation ready for mouthal exploitation. Walking under the open aired tents of the farmers’ market becomes an audible experience, sidelining the ordinary pleasures of sights and scents, coaxing the Wow!, Aaaaah! and Oh my God! out of our throats, leaving one breathy with the sweet air of peaches heaving in our bosoms.

True Wild Yakima shirts available at Provisions restaurant + market this Friday, August 16th

It’s hard to know where to begin. Meal planning becomes a puzzle of sorts, trying to fit in as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible.  Freeze for later? Canning? Maybe just go full glutton while lying languidly in a patio chair, nursing a big round belly with one hand, while eating handfuls of whatever tickles your tummy with the other.  So many options.

There is no other time quite like harvest.  All senses are engaged and on point, with extreme satiation being both the action and the object.  Here in the YV, we can explore the two alike with complete abandon.

God Damn, we’re lucky.

This Friday we’re putting two arms around the True Wild Yakima of the Harvest season, and popping up at the Provisions Market on Friday August 16, from 6-8 p.m. to share a bit of rooted merch.  Feeling the abundance of the times has our creative flows engaged and we want to celebrate it! Come on down to the Market for some truly original Yakima inspired swag and harvest inspired bites.
